Sunday Sketch!

A new sketch is up today at Sassy Lil' Sketches ! Go check out the lovely creations by this week's DT! Hope you play along too!

Have a good Sunday! Hope you get some scrappy time in!

P.S. Did you remember to turn your lights/appliances off last night between 8:30 and 9:30 for Earth Hour?

Another sketch!

Yep, another sketch is posted on Sassy Lil' Sketches! It's a great multi-photo sketch. Go check out what this week's DT did with it!

I'm finally done with my report cards, so hopefully I can go back and play in my scraproom soon! I don't have anything new to share yet, but here are my latest LOs. They're both 2nd pages (companion pages) that I finally managed to complete. I have this tendency to make "false" double LOs... I make the first page (usually for a challenge of some sort), then I end up waiting and waiting before making the 2nd page that goes with it. They're not really double LOs, it's more like having 2 single page LOs that somewhat match! I've been notoriously bad about neglecting my 2nd pages (I think the record is 3 years!!!) These two haven't waited that long!

This was page 1 of Bodnant Garden, in Wales. I made it last October; it was loosely based on a sketch by
Nicole Nowosad.

I did this 2nd page during March break, based on the Feb. 28th
Sassy sketch.

I love that little picture of the birdie! I had always wanted to see European Robins, and I finally got my chance last summer in the UK. They are just so cute! (American) Robins are one of my favorite birds, so this was a real treat! Oh, and by the way, I was excited to see my first robin of the year driving up to school this morning!

My second companion page was made to go with the one I made for the DT application to Sassy Lil' Sketches. It was the pretty and colorful town of Portree, on the Isle of Skye, in Scotland. I just flipped
Cherie Averill's sketch for the 2nd page.

Well, that's it for now. Hopefully I'll have a new LO soon. I'm itching to go clear my desk and scrap now that all the corrections and report cards are done! :)

If you participated in the "Going Green Blog Hop", they should be announcing the winner soon!

Talk to you later!

Going Green!

After "going green" with the blog hop, here's a chance to go green for real, with EARTH HOUR!

On Saturday, March 27th, people around the world will band together to do their small part for the environment by turning off their lights and non-essential appliances (yes, that means our televisions and computers! ;) ) between 8:30 and 9:30 PM.

Earth Hour is a World Wildlife Fund (WWF) event to raise awareness about climate change and symbolize that, working together, the people of the world can make a difference in the fight against climate change. It is about simple changes that will collectively make a difference – from businesses turning off their lights when their offices are empty, to households turning off appliances rather than leaving them on standby. Earth Hour has grown from a single event in Sydney, Australia in 2007 to a global phenomenon that reached over 1 billion people in 2009.

At my school, we will be holding our own EARTH HOUR, and encouraging students to participate with their families Saturday night. You can click on the logo in my sidebar for more information and sign yourself up to "switch it off" for an hour, or you can click
HERE to go to your country's own Earth Hour site. And help spread the word!

Card sketch is up!

Well, that blog hop was fun! It was great seeing all the hoppin' "traffic" everywhere! Thank you all for participating in the Sassy Blog Hop! Hopefully the sketch and LOs got your mogo going! And thanks so much for your sweet comments! :)

Well, a new sketch was posted last Sunday at
Sassy Lil' Sketches with a bunch of gorgeous cards made by the DT gals! You should really take a peek if you haven't already! The sketch is great... you could easily adapt it for a LO if making cards isn't your thing!

Unfortunately, there's no scrapping for me in the near future... It's report card season... so that's taking up most of my time! I can't wait to get back into my scraproom! :)

Thanks for stopping by!

If you've just popped in here directly without coming from Jess Bree's blog you might want to go to
Sassy Lil' Sketches to start from the beginning and see all the great LOs that the DT have prepared!

So here's the blog hop sketch, another great one made by Cherie Averill!

And here's my take on it. It's Lydford Gorge in England. I went "green" (easy for me, it's my favorite color, and I've got tons of green pp!) I also "reduced" somewhat... well, at least for the paper part of the layout! I used some old Bohemia and Signature Suite from MME, some of it from 2006. I also have some old K&Co in there. I used some old flocked alphas from the dollar store too. There were cream colored, well actually more like a dirty white! I was playing around with inking them in some way to make them match better (used up a few Z's and X's that way!). I was trying to decide which of two colors of distress ink would work better, when I realized I like the two-toned effect! I then popped some of the letters for more dimension. I'm pleased with how the title turned out! There will be a companion page to this one, and that's where my journaling will be.

Well, now that you've taken a peek here, please head on to the next blog, and visit Brenda's creation here!

Happy hopping and happy scrapping!

Stay tuned tomorrow for some hoppin' fun!!

Yup! That's right, a hoppin' we will go, bright and early Friday March 12th! The fun starts at Sassy Lil' Sketches and will have you hopping all over the DT's blogs! Lots of inspiration to be had, and a cool sketch to boot! Oh, and let's not forget a prize too! So make sure to check it out tomorrow! You won't want to miss it! :)

In the mean time, since I can't show you anything scrappy yet, I'll just share a few pics I took today of my 17 year old baby, Chipper. I'm really enjoying every moment I have with him, because I know they won't last too much longer... He's been lovin' the warm weather we've been having; this early spring is perfect for him! He loves to take a whiff of all the new spring smells! This afternoon, he came out on the back porch with me while I was taking a picture of my LO, and just enjoyed the fresh air, the sunshine, and even a bit of old grass to munch on!

Anyhoo, hope you'll join us tomorrow for some fun at
Sassy Lil' Sketches!

New sketch and reveal at Sassy Lil' Sketches!

Hi there!

A new sketch and reveal is up at
Sassy Lil' Sketches! Go check it out! It was a fun sketch to work with, lots of fun strips of pp!

Here's the LO I made with it. It's a nice little park in the beautiful town of Bath, in England. I used Basic Grey's Urban Prairie line, full of fun colors I don't usually use!

The garden was right by the river and in view of the beautiful abbey. There were lots of pretty flowers. It's called Parade Gardens because that's what England's high society did in Bath in the 18th century. They paraded around, showing off to each other! We had a fun, relaxing time there. I even enjoyed a cream tea in the gardens!

All right, well, I hope you go check out all the other great LOs that the DT created with this sketch! And hope you give it a whirl also!

Craving Spring!!

Spring is in the air! It's been so nice this past week, spring is right around the corner, you can smell it! The cats sure can! They want to go out on the porch and sniff the air!

I can't wait for my garden to start sprouting! It's the first spring for our little garden of flowers. We planted lots of perennials and a few annuals that I let go to seed, so I'm curious to see what will come up when the snow melts and spring is here for real.

While I wait for my real flowers to make their entrance, I've been craving pictures of them! While I was going through folders of photos from our trip to the UK, I came across tons of pretty pictures of flowers from the amazing gardens that we visited. I decided that I would put a few of them on our walls! So I bought three inexpensive wooden frames, painted them to give them a distressed look, and went through the difficult process of picking three photos to enlarge. These are the ones which finally made it on my wall.

And if you're like me and you're craving spring, here are a few more photos of flowers from British gardens to get you going until the snow melts!

Happy {almost} spring!

A nice surprise!

Well, what a nice surprise! I received this Beautiful Blogger Award from Cher, a fellow
Sassy DT member (you can check out her beautiful work here!)

So, as a recipient, I'm supposed to list 7 things about myself. Here goes...

1. I'm a homebody... Although I love to travel, I love to be at home! (I know, paradoxal, that's me! ;) I love nothing better than being in my comfy flannel pj bottoms and a hoodie, surfing on my laptop on the couch with my old kitty sleeping on my legs!

2. Although I don't like to drive, I've driven across the country twice, in my little pickup truck, from St. John's, Newfoundland to Whitehorse, Yukon, then the second time from Fairbanks, Alaska to Montreal, Quebec. The first time, I hadn't driven since getting my license 9 years before, and had NEVER driven a stick shift... I learned fast!

3. I've had up to 7 cats at the same time (never thought I'd do that, even though I'm a bona fide crazy cat lady!). Three of them were outdoor cats though (a mamma and her two kittens) that I tamed, had spayed and took care of. They're spoiled rotten now, are never far away from the backyard. Why would they, with an insulated shelter and heated water bowl for the winter, several comfy cat beds in a windproof area near the house...

4. I love everything chocolate!! It's a family thing on my dad's side of the family... (that's my excuse, and I'm sticking to it! ;)

5. I found a new love for flowers last summer when we landscaped our little tiny yard! I found it was a bit like patterned paper... I just couldn't help myself when I went to the store, and would come back with a few more different varieties of flowers to plant... There was always a little spot for them somewhere!

6. I have a thing for Christmas ornaments! I collect them from everywhere I travel. I love putting up my Christmas tree (I do it early) and finding a spot for each of them. I love looking at my tree and remembering all the different places I visited!

7. I'm a master procrastinator... ugh!!! Right now, I should be working on my piles of corrections and report cards that are due soon! But I'll probably go scrapping when I'm done here instead! ;)

Well, there you have it, a little insight into me! I'm supposed to forward this award to 7 other people, but I'm not very big with forwarding things, so I'll skip that part for now. Don't forget to come back Sunday for my 2nd reveal at
Sassy Lil' Sketches! Also just a few more days if you want a chance to win my flowery RAK by completing the first sketch! (Check out the details here.)

See you soon!
