Two Layouts to Share!

Hi!

I've got two layouts to share with you today, both about my dad when he was 5 years old, in 1943. The first one's title means "Simple Pleasures". I love those photos of my dad and uncle having a blast, while my grandma seems all "down to business", getting her boys clean! It's based on challenge 317 at Scrapbook Challenges.

I added two portrait pictures instead of one landscape photo. I also handstitched circles to put more emphasis on the small pictures. I used Basic Grey's Archaic collection for this one.

The second layout means "Brothers and Friends". I scraplifted it from Gina Rodgers at Scrap Friends. I used pieces of Archaic papers from Basic Grey and one of Tim Holtz' Core'dination cardstock as the base. I added some acrylic paint applied with the edge of a credit card to grunge it up a bit. I machine stitched between the squares of paper.

That's all I have today. Hope you have a scrappy week!

Two New Layouts

Hi there!

I've got two layouts to share with you tonight. The first one was done for a challenge at Scrapbooking From the Inside Out. The theme for October is "Journey". This layout talks about my journey through school, figuring out what I want to be "when I grow up"! The title means "For Good?", as I'm still debating whether I will stay in the education field or not. It's based on a sketch by Valerie Salmon.

The second layout is based on sketch #316 at Scrapbook Challenges. The title means "Rothenburg Under the Rain". It's a quaint little village in Germany which we visited last December during our tour of Christmas Markets.

That's it for now! Hope you have a scrappy weekend!

Once Upon a ... Sketch

Hello! I participated this month in the challenge at Once Upon a ... Sketch. The challenge was to incorporate the following quote along with the sketch provided. I loved the quote so much that I had to take part in the challenge!

And here's the sketch that we had to use.

I only followed the sketch loosely and did a pretty bare layout, which is difficult for me! And did some doodling, which I'm not very comfortable doing! I think I should have stitched around the page instead, but it's too late now... I used of picture of myself when I was blowing out the candles at my 3rd birthday. It's hard to see from the picture, but the title says "Capture the Good Times" and the complete quote is written on sides. Not my favorite page, but I'm glad it's done nonetheless.

You have until the end of the month if you want to participate in the challenge here!

Have a scrappy weekend!

A Sketch and Challenge at Scrapbooking From the Inside Out

Hi there! I have just one layout to share with you today. It was done for a challenge at Scrapbooking from the Inside Out. The "theme" was innocence and we had to use a picture of ourselves when we were very young. This is a picture of me when I was one day old. I used this sketch by Melissa Elsner, from SFTIO.

Here's the layout, using some old Sassafras Lass papers. I finally used a different stitch than straight or zigzag on my sewing machine! I used a diamond-shaped stitch to frame the page. I like how it turned out! The journaling stamp is from Unity.

That's all I have to share today! I hope you're having a scrappy week!

Two More Heritage Layouts!

Hello!

This week I worked on some old pictures of my grandfather. The first layout, with photos from the late 20's early 30's, is based on sketch #315 from Scrapbook Challenges.

I always have a hard time with masculine layouts. I have a hard time embellishing them! I used wooden letters and banners, which I colored with a distress marker. Added some wooden buttons and a chipboard star.

The second layout is based on the October sketch by Kristine Davidson for My Scraps and More.

This layout features a photo of my grandfather in 1960. This is the grandfather I remember. He didn't change as he got older! You can't see the journaling very well as it's on the dark red paper, but I used an old typewriter that I just inherited from my parents. They wanted to get rid of it, and I wanted one for my journaling! Perfect match!

Thanks for stopping by! Hope you're having a great weekend! Happy scrapping!

Sketches in Thyme and a Heritage Page!

Sketches in Thyme is having a DT call! They have a blog which offers weekly sketch challenges... and you know how much I love sketches! This is the sketch we had to work with for the call.

I adapted it quite a bit for these two beautiful photos of my grandmother when she was young. (My uncle lent me a bunch of old photos I had never seen before. I'll be scanning like crazy! And you might be seeing several heritage pages in the future!) I used her own beautiful old paper doilies on the layout. Fussy cut some Webster's Pages paper (which I have and love but never use!) and used some sanded Core'dinations cardstock as the base. I'm pretty happy about how it turned out. I'm sure my dad will love it!

I don't know if I'll make the team or not, but one way or the other, I'm really happy I got this layout done!

Hope you're having a creative weekend!
