Challenge 66 at Scrap Your Crap: Embossing!

Hi!

The challenge this month at Scrap Your Crap is all about embossing! Wet or dry, or both! I made this layout for the challenge.  I inked, heat embossed and cut out the letters for the title.  Then I dry embossed the black panel behind the top right photo on regular pattern paper. I applied embossing ink with a brayer on the raised areas, then heat embossed with clear powder. I then inked the whole piece of paper with black ink, and the embossed areas acted as a resist. There's a great tutorial here if you want to see how it's done!

This is the Italian garden at Butchart Gardens in Victoria, B.C. I used the Ambrosia collection from Basic Grey.

Go check out what the rest of the DT did with their embossing techniques on the blog!

Have a creative weekend!

Some Sunny Layouts!

I have a couple of layouts to share about our trip down south in the winter of 2011. I made the first one for a challenge at Let's Capture Our Memories' Birthday Bash. It's based on this sketch by Nicole Nowosad. We had to use the number 3 somewhere on the layout (for LCOM's 3rd birthday).

My layout is about three things I'll never forget about Cuba. I used some Fancy Pants papers and transparency.

My second layout is based on this sketch by Kristine Davidson for a challenge at My Scraps and More.

The title means: From This to That, with a picture from the plane leaving Montreal and the snow, and another one arriving in Cuba. Quite the contrast! It was my first time going down south during the winter and experiencing that difference! I used some My Mind's Eye papers for this one.

Finally, one last Cuba layout.  This one is a scraplift from Anna Mills for a challenge at My Scraps and More. I hadn't used paper tearing in a layout for a long time. It was fun to do!

Happy scrapping!

Sketch #15 at Let's Get Sketchy!

Happy Monday! There's a new sketch up today at Let's Get Sketchy! Here it is:

And here is my take on it. It was our Hotel in Colmar, France, when we visited last December for the Christmas markets. It was an old historic hotel that often appears on postcards. It was cool to be staying there! There was even a Christmas market right in front of the hotel!

Go check out what the rest of the team did here! You're sure to be inspired! And don't forget to link up your layout before Sunday night for a chance to win the June prize!

Have a scrappy week!

Tons of Challenges!

I love challenges, and right now there are tons of them out there! First up is Let's Capture Our Memories, which is celebrating its 3rd birthday with a birthday bash full of challenges, prizes and sales! I made this layout for the first challenge, which was to use one of the sketches from Let's Capture These Sketches and have a "birthday" theme. I used sketch #134 by JJ Sobey.

And this is my layout. It's about celebrating the 4th year of our tiny yard's make-over!

Next up is the summer long contest at My Scraps and More, called My Scraps Got Talent II. There has been two pre-contest challenges so far. The first one is based on this sketch by Kristine Davidson. We also had to use misting.

And here's my layout. The title means "Those Eyes", because I fell in love with this kitty the first time I saw his big green eyes! (I rescued him from the streets 6 years ago. He's now one spoiled cat! lol!) I tried the confetti thing for the first time on this page.

The second pre-contest challenge was to use this other sketch by Kristine Davidson and add some stitching.

I made this layout, which title means "Growing Old". I have a hard time with white space, so I filled it up with confetti again!

I hope you'll join in on both these events! Tons of challenges and lots of fun in store!

Happy scrapping!

Sunshine Online Crop at Creative Scrappers!

There's an online crop going on at Creative Scrappers today. The fun started yesterday with an early bird sketch challenge, then two more sketches were issued in the evening. I managed to complete the early bird and one of the other sketches.

Here was the early bird sketch.

And here is my layout. Believe it or not, this is my first page with hexagons! I'm a little late on the trends! lol! I wanted something colorful, so I went with Basic Grey's June Bug collection. I did some faux stitching around the hexagons and the mat. The are pictures of my brother and me through the years. The title means: Time Flies!

Here's sketch #2.

I did a page about the Christmas markets we visited last December in Germany and France, which was acutally something on my "bucket list"! I'm so glad I got to experience them! I used the Christmas line "I Believe" by My Mind's Eye for this one.

If you want to play along, you have until tonight, Saturday June 2nd at 11pm EST to upload your creations. There are lots of sponsors, so you never know, you might win something!

Happy scrapping!
