After "going green" with the blog hop, here's a chance to go green for real, with EARTH HOUR!
On Saturday, March 27th, people around the world will band together to do their small part for the environment by turning off their lights and non-essential appliances (yes, that means our televisions and computers! ;) ) between 8:30 and 9:30 PM.
Earth Hour is a World Wildlife Fund (WWF) event to raise awareness about climate change and symbolize that, working together, the people of the world can make a difference in the fight against climate change. It is about simple changes that will collectively make a difference – from businesses turning off their lights when their offices are empty, to households turning off appliances rather than leaving them on standby. Earth Hour has grown from a single event in Sydney, Australia in 2007 to a global phenomenon that reached over 1 billion people in 2009.
At my school, we will be holding our own EARTH HOUR, and encouraging students to participate with their families Saturday night. You can click on the logo in my sidebar for more information and sign yourself up to "switch it off" for an hour, or you can click HERE to go to your country's own Earth Hour site. And help spread the word!
