New Challenge and Some Layouts

Hi!

There's no sketch this week at Let's Get Sketchy since this is the 5th week of the month, but that doesn't mean there isn't a challenge! The challenge is to do a "white +1" layout, i.e. a white layout with one other color. Go check out the blog to see what some of the DT members have done with it!

I didn't participate in this week's challenge, but I do have a few pages to share with you. First up, two layouts from our 2009 trip to the UK. The first is Bodiam Castle, based on a sketch by Cherie Averill, of Sassy Lil' Sketches.

The second one is Durdle Door, the amazing landscape of the Devon coast.

And finally there's this page, "The Art of Being Zen", where I attempted a clean and simple look. I had a hard time with it... I'm still not sure if my layout looks finished or not!

That's it for today. Hope you have a scrappy week!

Let's Get Sketchy #8 and a scrappy garage sale!

Hi there!

It's a new sketch and a new reveal today at Let's Get Sketchy! Here's the sketch we had to work with. Lot's of fun layers!

And here's the layout I made. Everytime I go on a trip, I always take pictures of the cats that I see. These were the two kitties I saw during our trip to Cuba in February 2011. I used an old collection of My Mind's Eye papers for this one.

If you live in the Montreal area, I just wanted to let you know that Scrapbook Quebec (in Laval) will be having a scrappy garage sale on Saturday April 28th, from 11am to 4pm. I'll be there selling some of my "overstock"! lol! I'm sure there will be great deals to be had!

Hope you have a creative week!

New Sketch!

Hi!

It's Monday and a new sketch is up today at
Let's Get Sketchy! I didn't play along with this one but it's a fun sketch! Here it is:

I do have a layout to share though, it's one that I did at my scrappy retreat a few weeks ago. It's based on an old sketch from Sketchabilities. It's a companion page that I finally finished from a long time ago!

Hope you check out what Team A created
here and play along with the sketch this week!

Happy scrapping!

Challenge #64 at Scrap Your Crap... Paper Only!

There's a new challenge up at Scrap Your Crap today and it's a good one! Use paper only! I'm sure we almost all have way too much paper in our stashes. This is a good challenge to use up some of that! Everything paper... background, embellishments, title! I found it quite challenging! You can fussy cut, use paper strips, make rosettes... I'm sure you can come up with tons more ideas!

Here's my layout, about the beautiful flowers we saw in Butchart's Gardens in Victoria, B.C. I fussy cut the big flowers out of Basic Grey Lily Kate papers. I punched different sized circles and popped up a few of them for my embellies, along with a stamped bird.

Go check out what the rest of the team did
here. I hope you join us this month and create with your paper! Looking forward to see what you come up with!

Happy scrapping!

Layout to Share

Here's my latest layout, done for the Scrapping with the Stars contest at Let's Capture Our Memories. Part of the challenge was to mat everything in black cardstock, something I had never done before. I really admired Georgia Keays' beautiful layouts with black matting, so I was excited to give it a try! Now I don't think I would do this on every layout, but I definitely like the way it turned out, and it wasn't as time consuming as I thought it would be! It's a page about my parents' 50th wedding anniversary last summer and is for the album that I'm slowly completing for them!

That's it for today! Hope you get some scrappy time soon!

Challenge #6 at Let's Get Sketchy!

Hi!

It's a new week and a new challenge over at
Let's Get Sketchy! Here's the sketch we had to play with:

And here's my layout:

The title means "Straddling East and West". The pictures are of where the Berlin wall used to stand. It was very strange to think that just over 20 years ago, this used to be a barren no-man's land. I used Basic Grey's Basic collection, grungeboard that I embossed with distress embossing powder, and some cork embellies. I lightly drew a swirl (using the plastic lining of a bling swirl as a template) and went over it with some distress stickles.

I hope you hop on over to the blog to check out what the rest of the team did! You have until next Sunday at 10pm EST to link up your creation for a chance to win our monthly prize! Hope to see your layout there!

Have a great scrappy week!

Scrappy Retreat!

Two weekends ago, I went to a scrapbooking retreat out of town with two of my friends. We had such a blast! We talked, we laughed, we ate really well, we won some scrappy prizes and we scrapped until the wee hours of the morning! I managed to make 9 layouts that weekend(with two more on the go) which is a lot for me! We're plannning on making this an annual event again, now that my friend's little one is a bit older. Can't wait for the next one! The only down side is having to pack (and unpack! which I'm not completely done yet...) my supplies! There's just too much, and it's hard to know what you'll need. But we managed, and there was a store onsite when we were missing something! All in all, it was a fabulous weekend! Here are just a few of the layouts I did there.

And here's one I did about the weekend, scraplifted from
Krissy Clark McKee for a challenge at Let's Capture Our Memories.

Have a scrappy long weekend!

Another Heritage Page

I made this page about my paternal grandmother for a challenge at Scrapbooking from the Inside Out, where the theme for March was "grace". I've always loved this picture of my grandmother. She was so beautiful! I wish I could have known her when she was young!

The picture had a yellow tinge to it, so I went with a purple color scheme. I was a little hesitant at first, because the purple was so vibrant, but I loved how it turned out! I wanted a feminine, frilly layout, so I used my punches and clustered flowers. The page is based on a sketch by Becky Fleck at
Pagemaps.

That's all for now! Hope you have a wonderful week!

A Heritage Page

I made this layout for the "Scrapping with the Stars" contest at Let's Capture Our Memories. It's the second page for the patchwork layout about my dad as a boy (I love these old pictures of him!). Only this time I made a sunburst pattern instead. I was inspired by a card by Wendy Sue Anderson. Her tutorial here made it very easy to do! I love the final result!

You should go check out this tutorial and make a sunburst pattern in a future layout!

Happy scrapping!
