I'm e-published!

Yep! My first "pub"! That's pretty fun, even if it's just online! It's in Scrapbook News and Review, and is going live tonight. There was a call for butterflies on layouts, so I sent in my "Lerner Garden of the Five Senses" page. I hadn't heard back so I forgot about it, until I received an email saying that my layout would be part of the next issue!

Here's the first layout I did for the "delight" online crop at Scrapbooking from the Inside Out. The challenge was to make a layout about the power of "now", finding delight in the now.

Happy scrapping!

More Basic Grey Layouts and an Online Crop

Hi there!

Here are a few more layouts I did for the NSD Basic Grey challenges.

I made a few cat pages. This one is based on a sketch by Valerie Salmon and is about my three outdoor kitties. I used the Sweet Threads collection.

I also made pages about our trip to Germany and France this past December (to visit the Christmas markets). This one is about Kaysersberg, in Alsace, France, a picturesque little medieval village. I used the Curio collection.

There's an online crop starting tonight at Scrapbooking from the Inside Out.  There will be challenges, games and prizes! We have a week to complete the challenges. Go check it out!

Have a scrappy weekend!

Challenge #65 at Scrap Your Crap - Chipboard!

You heard right! It's time to get that chipboard out and use it! I'm sure you've got tons of it in your stash... There's so much you can do with it: paint it, ink it, cover it with paper, use it raw...

Here's my layout. It's Tintagel in Cornwall in the UK. I used a chipboard bird which I covered with paper then inked with distress ink. I kept the chipboard flowers raw.  They're from Magenta and I love the color of their chipboard. I distressed the chipboard alphas by sanding them.

Check out all what the rest of the DT did with their chipboard on the blog here! Hope you join us and make a dent in your chipboard stash!

Happy scrapping!

Challenge #11 at Let's Get Sketchy!

It's a new week and a new sketch at Let's Get Sketchy! Here's the fun sketch; it's a two-photo sketch with a circle element.

Here's my take on it. They're pictures of my mom when she was young and in the girl scouts movement. I used the Restoration collection from Crate Paper. I love that it has a vintage feel and yet it's very colorful!

Go check out what the rest of the team did with this cool sketch! And don't forget to link up your creation here for your chance to win a prize at the end of the month!

Have a creative week!

The Basic Grey Marathon Continues!

So I've been working all week on Basic Grey layouts with their NSD challenges! How fun! This is the latest I finished, a layout about my cat Bear who is totally and exclusively in love... with me! This one was made for the "shape" challenge at BG (I used triangles) and is based on sketch 294 from Scrapbook Challenges. I used one of my favorite collections, Periphery, which I had been hoarding!

Here are a couple more pages I completed about our trip to Cuba in 2011. This is a day trip on a big catamaran that we did on a perfect sunny day (still hard to believe that this was in January, me that had never gone south for winter before!). I did the first page for the Basic Grey + Core'dinations challenge and used the Marrakesh collection.  This one is based on sketch 81 by Susan Stringfellow at Sketch Savvy.

I did the second page for the layering challenge, again with the Marrakesh collection. It is based on a sketch by Cherie Averill, of Sassy Lil' Sketches.

I'm hoping to squeeze out a couple more pages before the deadline for the NSD challenges tomorrow if I can!

Happy scrapping!

Got Sketch?

It's the 5th anniversary of the Got Sketch? blog, and they're celebrating with a new sketch, a challenge and a prize! You can see the sketch here.  The challenge was to use 5 papers and/or cardstock, 5 photos, and a cluster of 5 things.

Here is the layout I came up with. It's a layout about my mom, who was in the girl scouts movement for over 10 years when she was young. I used the Restoration collection from Crate Paper for this one. It was a really fun sketch to work with. I love multi-photo sketches!

If you want to play along, it's not too late! You have until May 13th to do so!

Have a scrappy week!

Basic Grey Marathon for NSD!

Hi there!

I hope you celebrated National Scrapbooking Day! I did! I scrapped all day Saturday, and a bit on Sunday. I made five layouts, all with Basic Grey collections! Basic Grey had challenges every hour on their blog on Saturday, so there was lots of inspiration to be had! Here are a couple of the pages I made.

This is a small village in Alsace, in France that we visited last December. It was so pretty! I used the Urban Prairie collection for this one. It was based on this Basic Grey sketch by Susan Stringfellow.

This one was based on another sketch by Susan Stringfellow, from Sketch Savvy. They're pictures of my parents' honeymoon in 1961. I used the Mellow collection for this one.  It had the perfect retro feel!

I also did companion pages for both these layouts, as well as a kitty layout, all with Basic Grey collections! It was fun to play with my BG stash!

If you want to play along, it's not too late. You have until May 11th to upload your projects!

Happy scrapping!
